Job Description

Cuba Youth Minister

 

1.    Establish a rapport with the youth and their families through visitation, phone calls, birthday cards, and other means. Follow up on young people who visit our assembly through cards and calls.

2.    Arrange chaperones, transportation, food, forms, lodging, fees, and other needs to promote participation for Celebration, Winterfest, Pennyrile, Tuesday night Summer Youth Series, one monthly devotional at someone’s home, Area Wide Devotionals, and other youth rallies and activities as approved by the elders.

3.    Promote Christian education by planning visits to area Christian colleges, particularly for special school events.

4.    Help youth and parents with Christian college applications and scholarship applications.

5.    Fill in for pulpit minister when needed (preaching and teaching).

6.    Help young men prepare for the 5th Sunday evening service by selecting speakers two weeks in advance, checking outlines for content and concluding lessons with a brief invitation.

7.    Use the van and bus for all activities. (You must either have or be willing to acquire a C.D.L., which will be paid for by the church) The church vehicles will be the primary transportation unless approved by parents. Van and bus should be cleaned inside by the youth each use and washed outside monthly (excluding the winter months). Bus must be scheduled with Kenneth Anderson when needed.

8.    All activities will be supervised both on church grounds and off.

9.    Approved youth activities should be known by the teens and the parents at least two weeks in advance. Handout a monthly calendar with planned activities. Make sure the activities are included on Sunday’s Cuba News & Notes and PowerPoint.

10.           Serve as Director of Vacation Bible School. This would include developing a concept for Bible School to be presented to the elders by April 15th, gathering supplies, developing a schedule and coordinating teachers, helpers, and designating a person in charge of the evening meals.

11.           Make monthly reports to the elders in the elder’s meetings. Let them know activities you have done, number of participants, etc.

12.           Prepare a new pictorial directory every 3 years (Olan Mills). The first one will be Nov. 2009.

13.           Promote work camps, mission trips and church camp.

14.           Participate in church visitation overseen by Jesse Henderson.

15.           Teach or attend teen classes on Sunday AM and Wednesday PM.

16.           High School senior names (of those who will be honored at the graduate meal) be given to the elders in March.

17.           Reserve the church building for activities with David Jones.

18.           This can be modified at any time by the elders.
